I’ve been to two events in the last week (a Public Interest Journalism Foundation Meetup and The Lifted Brow music issue launch) that have called upon my powers of oral articulation to summarise what I do. Sadly, my powers of oral articulation are not as reliable as my well-honed writing and editing skills, so it still takes me several sentences to explain to someone all the components of my occupation.
In summary, this is what I do:
- For four days a week (business hours, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday) I work at CoursesNow, an education consultancy for the VET sector, as a content manager. This means keeping directory content up to date, writing blogs and managing the brand’s social media.
- For half a day a week (Wednesdays, 8.30am – 12.30pm), I am the communications manager for CreditorWatch, an online credit management register and community, looking after a new project that I am not allowed to name as yet.
- For 4-5 hours a week, I am the editor of Project Manager online, an information resource for aspiring, practising and expert project managers. I also compile a fortnightly e-newsletter and write for the website.
- For whatever time remains I take on freelance clients. My two regular gigs are with The PR Group and Asia Pacific Security Magazine.
If you’re interested in hiring me, visit WriterType for more information. If I can’t help you, I have a network of reliable freelancers who can and would be happy to recommend one depending on your brief.
That still took several sentences, hey? Maybe I really do just work on a lot of different things. And if you think this is a lot of work, you should see my volunteer portfolio…
